Women of The Great Lake Foundation

During our trip Louise and I visited 12 projects organised by the Great lake Foundation. So What is this???

Phoebe has mobilised 90 groups of approximately 15 women to form sustainable enterprises, in the rural areas of Kisumu and Siaya Counties.

This area has been devastated by illness and disease leaving quite literally thousands of orphans of all ages. The people in the villages are in the main willing to care for the children but need the funds to do so . The projects The Great Lakes women are setting up will improve the lives of the most vulnerable and build strong responsible communities.

The Great Lake has an Executives Team, they watch over geographical areas. These are sub-divided and they have local leaders or Advocates.

Here is just one of the projects. Peanut Farming. Peanuts processed into peanut butter. To improve their out put the ladies need a mechanical roaster a cover against the rain. We watch these ladies process their peanuts, hygiene standards were high and the only additive was a little salt to taste. A great project. If you would like to donate contact me through this website please. The Great Lake Women are doing great things.
