Whiteley Primary School, Hampshire

The Children, Staff and Parents of Whiteley Primary School have been great supporters of Phoebe’s Family,  the orphanage and the schools in Kisumu.

Year 2 learn all about Kenya and they have integrated Kisumu into their studies and have organised some amazing fundraisers.

The Children picked the name “Jambo Rabbits”, for the rabbit farm at Bondo.  Jambo means Hallo or Welcome.

They then baked lots of bunny shaped biscuits and sold them.

The next event was a sale of toys and they made more money to buy the breeding pairs for the Jambo Rabbit Project. Jambo Rabbits is a huge success, so thank you all at Whiteley Primary School.

The next Project that the Year 2 children were involved in was the, ” Scoot and Ride”.

The children decorated their scooters and bicycles and made registration plates. The event was run over 2 days and the sun shone  whilst the children scooted or rode for one mile.

Yes we did it, we all completed a mile!

Parents, families and friends sponsored the children and they raised over £1,000 a really fantastic effort.   This money paid for Boxes for the older boys to keep their personal belongings in as the dormitories have little furniture and the rest  will help send the Whiteley School’s  Christmas  Shoeboxes to Kisumu.  A huge “Thank You”, to the staff who organised and ran this event.
